Panasonic’s upcoming Auto Framing application for PTZ cameras enhances video quality, making it ideal for broadcasting and video production settings.

Osaka, Japan, October 3, 2024 – Panasonic Entertainment & Communication has announced the upcoming launch of a new auto framing application for its PTZ cameras, designed to deliver natural, high-quality automated video for broadcasting and video production. The Advanced Auto Framing plug-in will be available through Panasonic’s Media Production Suite software by Q2 2025. Additionally, certain auto framing features will be integrated into Panasonic’s flagship AW-UE160W/K PTZ camera via firmware and software updates in Q1 2025.

Panasonic plans to showcase the auto framing feature of the AW-UE160W/K at their booth during the 2024 NAB Show New York, taking place from October 9 to 10, 2024.

With the surge in streaming platforms and online broadcasts, the demand for optimizing both human resources and technical systems has risen. This is crucial to ensure the efficient production and delivery of high-quality content across various sectors like broadcast networks, production studios, and live event coverage.

Panasonic’s new auto framing solution draws on its vast experience in broadcasting and video production, with input from industry professionals. It integrates advanced technologies like auto tracking, image recognition, and natural auto framing, allowing precise camera framing as defined by the user for better efficiency and high-quality content. The paid Advanced Auto Framing plug-in for the Media Production Suite supports multi-camera setups for enhanced detection and includes facial recognition for optimal framing of specific individuals, compatible with various Panasonic PTZ cameras.

The upcoming auto framing feature for the AW-UE160W/K will be available for free through firmware and Media Production Suite updates. The camera’s internal processor handles subject detection, while framing is controlled via the Media Production Suite, eliminating the need for a GPU. This feature enables professional-grade automatic framing in real time, with customizable presets for single or multi-subject shots. Advanced human body detection ensures consistent framing, making it easier to capture high-quality video content with minimal effort.

The graphical user interface (GUI) of Panasonic’s Auto Framing application aligns with the Media Production Suite, offering a user-friendly control panel for seamless setup. Its multi-camera display enables easy monitoring and control of multiple PTZ cameras on a single screen, ideal for efficient multi-camera operations with limited staff. The app integrates with AW-RP150GJ and AW-RP60GJ controllers, allowing precise adjustments during auto framing. This enhances workflows for high-quality production in broadcast studios and live events, ensuring smooth transitions between auto and manual framing.
