Panasonic AK-UCX100 4K Studio Camera Equipped for On-site Production to the Future of Video Production
The new AK-UCX100 4K studio camera is fully equipped to meet the demands for high-quality video and innovative on-sight live production in the IP era, including studio work, sports broadcasting and stage productions.
Panasonic’s new camera achieves exceptional high-definition for detailed reproduction with 2,000 TV lines (TVL), both horizontal and vertical. In addition, the rich gradation and colors of stage productions, etc. are achieved with a wide dynamic range and wide color gamut thanks to High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology (incl. HLG format) based on the BT.2020 standard.
The AK-UCX100 can be operated as a standalone camera head, without requiring a Camera Control Unit (CCU), and it supports a variety of IP standards, Including NDI® High Bandwidth, ST2110 and SRT, as well as 12G-SDI (x2). SMPTE ST 2110 enables network redundancy and supports JPEG XS for low-latency transmission, ensuring visually lossless video quality and extra- stable IP operation.
Exceptional Resolution of Panasonic AK-UCX100
The camera’s new MOS sensor uses oversampling to achieve 2,000 TVL resolution, both horizontally and vertically, for detailed high-definition reproduction. With F10 (2000 lux) sensitivity and a signal-to-noise ratio of 62 dB or higher, the sensor ensures low-noise, high-quality video even in very low-light conditions.
Various Interfaces without CCU
The AK-UCX100 can operate independently as a standalone camera head without a CCU, and it supports a variety of IP standards, including 12G-SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, NDI® High Bandwidth, and SRT without a CCU, providing flexible compatibility with both baseband and IP systems. In addition, it is compatible with Panasonic’s AK-UCU700 CCU series and the newly developed AK-CFA100 Camera Fiber Adaptor, offering a wide range of options to accommodate different on-sight environments.
SMPTE ST 2110 Support for IP
The AK-UCX100 addresses various IP-migration issues to maintain video quality, improve operability and more. SMPTE ST 2110 compatibility enables transmission of uncompressed 4K video for stable IP operation in both live and studio settings. Support for JPEG XS allows low-latency transmission of visually lossless video quality, ensuring smooth video transmission even in bandwidth-constrained environments. In addition, Tag VLAN identifies and groups cameras connected to the network, simplifying management in large-network operations.
Redundant Operation with ST 2110
SMPTE ST 2110 compatibility enables redundant operation and network redundancy during IP operation.
AK-UCX100 offers Simultaneous HLG (BT.2020) and SDR (BT.709)
Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) achieves fine gradation of light and dark with a wide dynamic range and ITU-R BT.2020 compatibility allows reproduction of nearly all natural colors for superior color accuracy. What’s more, simultaneous use of HLG (BT.2020) and SDR (BT.709) enables optimal color reproduction for virtually any content.
AK-UCX100 offers HD Low-Pass Filter for Reduced Moiré
The HD low-pass filter* reduces luminance and color moiré often seen in LED wall shooting, ensuring beautiful capture of live-stage performances with LED walls.
Integration with Panasonic PTZ Cameras
When paired with an integrated 4K camera, the same remote operation panel (ROP) can be used for seamless color matching, making it easy to create dramatic multi-angle video on location.
High-precision focus assist function
The camera is equipped with a high-precision focus indicator that supports the focus point with a guide display and a focus guide that displays the in-focus status as an icon on the viewfinder using a distance measurement technology through image phase detection. This function allows for further ease of use in live production to beautifully express once-in-a-lifetime moments. It also features a VF dark area boost function that enhances visibility on the VF by increasing the contrast of dark areas when using the viewfinder.
Video and Data Transmission (TRUNK)
Video and data can be transmitted between the camera and CCU via an optical cable, allowing system upgrades based on operational needs. Two 3G-SDI systems (CCU/CFA to camera) with built-in frame synchronizer (FS) can be used for the prompter, fixed return, and camera-side monitoring (studio floor, etc.). Also, one 3G-SDI system (camera to CCU/CFA) with built-in FS outputs video from a handheld or PTZ camera in a studio or in the field. Video input uses built-in FS for asynchronous video signals.
