Core Imaging and Vision Capabilities
The camera is equipped with an Image Sensor that is approximately a 1/2.8-inch type CMOS sensor. This sensor captures images across a Scanning Area of 5.12 mm (H) × 3.84 mm (V), which translates to roughly 3/16 inches (H) by 5/32 inches (V), providing a clear and detailed visual input for surveillance.
One of the critical strengths of this camera is its performance in low-light conditions, as indicated by its Minimum Illumination specifications. In Color mode, it can produce usable images at just 0.08 lux (30IRE, F2.2, 1/30s, AGC:11) or 0.11 lux (50IRE, F2.2, 1/30s, AGC:11). For even darker scenes, it achieves 0.0069 lux with extended exposure (50IRE, F2.2, 16/30s, AGC:11). In Black and White (BW) mode, the camera can operate in complete darkness (0 lux) when its IR LED is active (50IRE, F2.2, 1/30s, AGC:11). Without IR, it still performs exceptionally well at 0.07 lux and can go down to 0.0044 lux with extended exposure. These figures demonstrate the camera’s capability for 24/7 monitoring across a spectrum of lighting challenges.
The camera offers flexible control over image exposure with its White Balance options, including ATW1, ATW2, and AWC, ensuring accurate color reproduction under various ambient light conditions. While a fixed Shutter Speed is not specified, the camera provides a flexible Maximum Shutter range from 1/10000 second to 16/30 seconds in 30 fps/15 fps modes, and 1/10000 second to 16/25 seconds in 25 fps/12.5 fps modes, allowing for precise control over motion blur and light capture.
Further enhancing image quality are features like Intelligent Auto, which automatically optimizes various image settings, and Super Dynamic, which provides an impressive Dynamic Range of up to 132 dB. This wide dynamic range is vital for capturing details in scenes with extreme light and shadow variations, preventing over- or underexposure. Adaptive Black Stretch allows for fine-tuning of dark areas with a customizable level from 0 to 255. The camera also includes Back Light Compensation (BLC) and High Light Compensation (HLC) to maintain clear images when strong backlighting or bright highlights are present, though these are active only when Super Dynamic/Intelligent Auto are off. Fog Compensation, with a range of 0 to 8, improves visibility in adverse weather conditions, also active only when Intelligent Auto/Auto contrast adjust are off. The Maximum Gain (AGC), settable from 0 to 11, offers additional sensitivity control in low-light environments.
The camera’s Color/BW (ICR) function provides flexible mode switching, with options including Off, On (IR Light Off/On), and various Auto modes (Auto1, Auto2, Auto3 SCC). Its integrated IR LED Light offers powerful night vision, with a maximum irradiation distance of 21 meters (approx. 69 ft) at 30IRE and 15 meters (approx. 49 ft) at 50IRE. Digital Noise Reduction, with levels from 0 to 255, further refines image quality by minimizing visual noise.
Advanced Analytics and Privacy Features
Beyond basic image capture, this camera integrates a suite of advanced detection and analytical features. Video Motion Detection (VMD) can be enabled or disabled, with 4 configurable areas for precise motion detection. Scene Change Detection (SCD) is also available, with 1 configurable area, alerting users to significant alterations in the camera’s field of view.
For audio monitoring, Audio Detection can be toggled on or off. Complementing this, AI Sound Classification is a powerful feature that can intelligently identify specific sounds such as Gunshot, Yell, Vehicle horn, and Glass break, providing highly contextual alerts for rapid response.
The camera’s Analytics capabilities are extensive, leveraging Artificial Intelligence for a wide range of intelligent surveillance functions. These include AI Video Motion Detection, AI Privacy Guard, AI Face Detection, AI People Detection, AI Vehicle Detection, AI Non-mask Detection (prior to V2.70), AI Occupancy Detection, and AI Scene Change Detection. These AI-driven features enable more precise event detection, automated privacy protection, efficient subject identification, and adaptable learning capabilities. The platform supports a maximum of 3 applications simultaneously, and further 3rd party applications are also available.
Privacy is a key consideration, and the camera offers a Privacy Zone feature, allowing users to define up to 8 configurable zones to be masked from view. VIQS (Variable Image Quality on Specified Area) is also available with up to 8 zones, allowing for selective enhancement of image quality in areas of interest while conserving bandwidth elsewhere. The camera does not feature an Image Stabilizer. For clear identification, a Camera Title (OSD) can be displayed with up to 40 characters over 2 lines.
Lens Performance and Surveillance Range (DORI)
The camera’s Lens is designed for wide-angle surveillance. It features 1x Optical Zoom, meaning it has a fixed focal length, and an Extra Zoom capability of up to 4x when the resolution is set to 640 x 360. There is no Digital (electronic) Zoom specified. The fixed Focal Length is 2.3mm, providing a very wide Angular Field of View. In 16:9 mode, the horizontal field of view is 131° and vertical is 70°. In 4:3 mode, it maintains a horizontal field of 131° while the vertical expands to 95°. This wide field of view is ideal for covering large areas with a single camera.
The Adjusting Angle offers limited physical movement, primarily for fine-tuning. The Vertical (TILT) angle ranges from -5° to +5°, and the Azimuth (YAW) angle is ±5°. The Maximum Aperture Ratio is a fixed 1:2.2, and the Aperture Range is also fixed at F2.2. The Focus Range extends from 0.5 meters to infinity, ensuring objects are in focus from close up to far distances.
The camera’s effective surveillance reach is quantified by its DORI (Detect, Observe, Recognize, Identify) specifications, providing a practical measure of the camera’s performance at different distances:
- Detect (25ppm / 8ppf): An object or person can be detected up to 23.3 meters (76.6 ft).
- Observe (62.5ppm / 19ppf): Detailed characteristics can be observed up to 9.3 meters (30.6 ft).
- Recognize (125ppm / 38ppf): Familiar individuals can be recognized up to 4.7 meters (15.3 ft).
- Identify (250ppm / 76ppf): Positive identification is possible up to 2.3 meters (7.7 ft).
