Blackmagic Design has introduced the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2, an upgraded studio camera that features 12G-SDI connectivity for compatibility with switchers like ATEM Constellation. The new version also supports remote camera control via REST APIs and talkback on 3.5mm headsets. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 is now available through Blackmagic Design resellers globally, priced in Dubai at AED 5,367.
The Blackmagic Studio Cameras combine the capabilities of large studio cameras into a compact, portable design. They offer digital film camera qualities, managing challenging lighting for cinematic results. The sensor’s ISO up to 25,600 enables excellent low-light performance. Additionally, these cameras boast advanced features like talkback, tally, camera control, built-in color correction, Blackmagic RAW recording to USB disks, live streaming, and more.
The Blackmagic Studio Camera, although primarily intended for live production, isn’t restricted to live switcher use. It records in Blackmagic RAW to USB disks, making it versatile for tripod-based scenarios. Its 7″ viewfinder is ideal for various applications like chat shows, TV production, news broadcasting, sports, education, conferences, and even weddings. The spacious, well-lit display with side handles, touch screen, and physical controls ensures convenient shot monitoring and comfortable extended use.
Sensor and Resolution of Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2
Impressive sensors, coupled with Blackmagic’s fifth-gen color science, provide users with cinema-grade imaging tech. The color corrector can be managed via the switcher. Offering 13 stops of dynamic range, the camera delivers deep blacks and vibrant whites, ideal for color adjustment. Suitable for HD and Ultra HD production, the 4K versions boast 3840 x 2160 resolution, while the 6K model offers 6144 x 3456 resolution. Additionally, all models support frame rates from 23.98 to 60 fps.
Blackmagic Studio Cameras, which feature popular EF or MFT lens mounts, offer compatibility with a broad selection of budget-friendly photographic lenses. These lenses deliver exceptional quality due to their high-resolution photography design. To simplify lens adjustments without reaching around, optional focus and zoom controls enable users to make changes from tripod handles, providing a similar experience to expensive B4 broadcast lenses.
Connections Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2
In contrast to typical consumer cameras, Blackmagic Studio Cameras feature SDI connections with integrated talkback functionality. This allows the switcher operator to communicate with camera operators in real-time during live events. This communication enables the director to provide guidance on shot selection, preventing the issue of all cameras capturing the same shot simultaneously. Moreover, all models accommodate 3.5mm smartphone headsets, while the Pro models are compatible with standard 5-pin XLR broadcast headsets.
Data Transfer of Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2

By using an external USB flash drive, it can capture high-quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files for convenient post-production editing without the hassle of file copying. Additionally, users can enhance their camera control through a network using REST APIs with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter, and file transfer is possible via the network. Furthermore, users can attach optional focus and zoom controllers for comprehensive lens control, mimicking a full-fledged studio camera.
